Creating a Healthy Home Environment

A healthy home environment is important to a person’s well-being and houseplants can contribute more than you think. NASA found the benefits plants provide in conducting a Clean Air Study. In result, air-filtering plants are effective at removing benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and ammonia from the air. These chemicals have been associated with negative health effects like headaches, dizziness, eye irritation and others. It is recommended to have at least one plant per 100 square feet in a home. This will ensure high air quality in the home. A few examples of air-filtering plants included: Dwarf date palm, Boston fern, Spider Plant, Bamboo palm, Flamingo lily, English ivy, etc.
